Ecosystems
Brooker Creek Preserve is located in the northeast corner of Pinellas County.  At approximately 8700 acres, it is the largest remaining natural open space in the state’s most densely populated county.

The Preserve is approximately 55% wetlands and 45% uplands.  Pine flatwoods dominate the upland landscape with some areas of hammocks and sandhills.   Wetland areas include the shallow braided channels of Brooker Creek, hardwood and mixed wetland forests, cypress domes and strands, marshes and wet prairies.

Brooker Creek Preserve is managed by the Pinellas County Department of Environmental Management's Environmental Lands Division. Management of natural resources and recreational activities on the Preserve are guided by Pinellas County’s Comprehensive Plan and the Preserve Ordinance 08-29 as well as the 1993 Brooker Creek Preserve Management Plan and subsequent Brooker Creek Preserve Management Plan 2008 Update.
