Brooker
Creek Preserve
is located in the northeast corner of Pinellas County. At
approximately 8700 acres, it is the largest remaining
natural open space in the state’s most densely
populated county.
The Preserve is approximately 55% wetlands and 45%
uplands. Pine flatwoods dominate the upland
landscape with some areas of hammocks and sandhills. Wetland
areas include the shallow braided channels of Brooker
Creek, hardwood and mixed wetland forests, cypress
domes and strands, marshes and wet prairies.
Brooker Creek Preserve is managed by the Pinellas
County Department of Environmental Management's Environmental
Lands Division. Management of natural resources and recreational activities
on the Preserve are guided by Pinellas
County’s
Comprehensive Plan
and the Preserve
Ordinance 08-29 as well as the 1993
