Exhibits and Trails
Visitors to Brooker Creek Preserve Environmental Education Center will find a variety of activities for family members of all ages. The Center's educational mission also extends into the Preserve through its programs and interpretative trail signs.  Staff and volunteers are available to answer questions and gather new ideas. Come enjoy "Our Wildest Place" by visiting the following exhibits and trails.
Permanent Exhibits:
Brooker Creek Preserve: Windows to Our Wildest Place
The Center features many discovery-oriented experiences highlighting Florida ecology and local history.   Crawl through a burrow to experience life as a gopher tortoise, walk around the seasons in Florida to experience changes and learn about natural processes, or step into the Object Theater’s barn to journey into the past.  Visitors will discover their connection to “Our Wildest Place” through these exhibits and more.

Completed in June 2004, cooperative funding for the permanent exhibits was provided by Pinellas County Utilities, the Pinellas-Anclote River Basin Board of the Southwest Florida Water Management District, the Pinellas County Environmental Fund, and the Penny for Pinellas, a voter approved sales tax administered by the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners.
Education Center Interpretive Trail Signs
From 2006 to 2009, Division staff worked with a team of creative consultants to design, produce, and install interpretive signage for the Education Center Trail. The interpretive signs provide visitors an interactive, discovery-oriented, self-guided hiking experience. The signs are located along boardwalks around the buildings and along a 0.7-mile trail through a variety of upland and wetland habitats. Funding was provided by Pinellas-Anclote River Basin Board of Southwest Florida Water Management District, the Pinellas County Environmental Fund, and the Penny for Pinellas, a voter approved sales tax administered by the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners.

Preserve Trails:
Wildlands Hiking Trails
Hikers looking for a quiet place to walk in Pinellas County will enjoy Brooker Creek Preserve.  Boardwalks and sand trails wind through forested wetlands, pine flatwoods, oak hammocks and cypress swamps.  Trails as short as 0.7-miles are available for a leisurely stroll while more serious hikers can tackle up to 4 miles on moderately rugged trails.  Just a short walk from the main parking lot through an oak hammock lies a bird viewing blind that overlooks a freshwater marsh. This blind, funded by the Friends of Brooker Creek Preserve, Inc., enhances opportunities for bird watchers and photographers.
