Trails and More
Almost five (5) miles of hiking along two different
trails are available for visitors to Brooker Creek
Preserve. Upland trails meander through oak
hammocks and pine flatwoods where visitors can see
evidence of prescribed fires and catch a glimpse
of deer, turkeys or gopher tortoises. Large
sections of boardwalk wind through forested wetlands,
offering a cool respite from the sun and a chance
to see wading birds, mosquito fish and other wetland
inhabitants. Drinking water is always a must;
sunscreen, a hat and insect repellant are recommended.
At Brooker Creek Preserve, equestrians are offered
over nine (9) miles of riding pleasure on two (2)
different trails that meander through pinelands and
open fields. Brooker Creek Preserve does not
rent horses or provide guided horseback activities. Equestrian
trails are natural paths maintained through periodic
mowing. Hitching posts and paddocks are not
provided. Water is always a must. Please
bring enough for both you and your horse.
All trails are open for day-use only and remain
in their natural state to minimize the impact of
our presence in the area. While boardwalks
allow passage over routinely wet areas, other areas
of the trails may be seasonally wet.
